From beginners threading their first needle to advanced young designers creating portfolio-ready collections, our two-level program develops sewing mastery, creative thinking, and the confidence to bring original ideas to life — in-person, live online, or self-paced.
Who This Program Is For
At our School of Art, our Premium Fashion Design Program includes different tracks to meet the needs of a variety of students:
✅ General education students ages 8–14, ready to explore sewing, design, and creative skills.
✅ High school students focused on building a professional portfolio for future fashion or design studies.
✅ Special education students with mild developmental delays, taught in very small groups of just three students to ensure individual attention and support for their unique learning needs.
💡Special note for Advanced Clothing Design (Level Two - Advanced ): Students must have prior experience — either by completing Level One with us or by being approved through a portfolio review and pre-enrollment interview.
We offer all tracks in-person at our Schaumburg location and live online.

Our Two-Level Pathway to Fashion Excellence
Whether your child is threading their first needle or already designing complex garments, our fashion program meets them where they are and challenges them to grow. Beginners develop essential sewing and creative skills, while advanced young designers refine their craft and explore their unique style.
Every student follows their own journey — and once they’re ready, they’re automatically moved to the next level so they can continue to push their skills further. Some students join with prior experience and progress to Level 2 in just a few sessions, while others build their foundation over time before advancing.
Level 1: Sewing & Craft – Foundation & Skill Advancement
Whether your child is starting from scratch or already has sewing experience, Level 1 helps them grow to their next stage.

Unique to our program: Students learn to create their own patterns instead of relying on flawed commercial patterns — building accuracy and independence from the start.

📍 For Online Students
All students who sign up for an online class receive our Intro to Sewing lesson free of charge. This at-home guided activity helps parents spend about five hours with their child to ensure they can operate a sewing machine fluently before classes begin.We understand this requires your involvement, but it’s an essential step — since we can’t be there physically, your child needs this foundation to become independent and continue enjoying the program confidently.
💡 Automatic Advancement:
Once we see that a student is ready, they are automatically moved to Level 2 so they can continue to challenge their skills and creativity. Some students join Level 1 with prior sewing experience and move up quickly — sometimes after just a few sessions.
Level 2: Advanced Clothing Design – From Skills to Signature Style
Level 2 is for students who already have fluent hand and machine sewing skills and are ready to create original fashion pieces from concept to completion.
Inside Level 2, there are two stages of growth:
1. New to Advanced Clothing Design

Learn to turn creative visions into reality — from sketching concepts to making accurate, original patterns

Master garment construction for their own designs
2. Highly Advanced Designers

Gain full creative freedom to produce complex, multi-piece collections

Explore advanced techniques and refine a personal style

Work independently while receiving expert guidance to push technical and artistic limits
Admission Requirements for Level 2
Students joining from outside our programs must demonstrate high-level craft skills, including fluent sewing machine and hand sewing techniques.
We do not accept beginners into Level 2.
Portfolio Development

Every Level 2 student begins building a professional portfolio — documenting designs, patterns, completed garments, and their creative process.

Portfolios are tailored to each student’s goals and the requirements of the schools they plan to apply to.
💡 Note: If the considered school requires additional portfolio work in painting, drawing, or other art forms, we can provide extra training and projects to meet those standards. (Additional programs may have separate fees.)
Portfolio Track for High Schoolers

Open to advanced middle and high school students seeking intensive portfolio preparation for fashion school or professional paths

Includes advanced design mentorship, portfolio planning, and presentation coaching
Available Formats: In-person and live online for maximum interaction and support.
